Jews know how to tell a joke, and they sure know how to laugh, perhaps the best way to deal with centuries and centuries of, well, you know the story. So instead of wallowing in self-pity (not that there’s anything wrong with that), they regularly double over in both laughter and digestive distress (from Aunt Sadie’s noodle kugel and Uncle Irving’s stale jokes).
