The Batavia Muckdogs come into town August 4-6 to take on our beloved Brooklyn Cyclones, now in the midst of their tenth anniversary season, and, as always, each game features a special event and/or giveaway. You can buy one sausage sandwich, get one free on Weiner Wednesday, which is also Office Olympics Night; the first 2,500 fans to show up on Jersey Thursday will receive a jersey in honor of Irish Heritage Night; and the first 2,500 to enter the stadium on Fireworks Friday will get a Cyclones cap. In addition, everyone gets to run around the bases following the Thursday night game, and Friday also is Brooklyn Wall of Remembrance Night. At eight to sixteen dollars apiece, tickets are not that expensive, especially when compared with the prices at Major League ballparks, but you can attend Wednesday’s match-up for a mere one hundred cents if you go the Cyclones’ website and use the code BUCK when ordering August 4 tix. Among the other upcoming promotions are Ladies Night on August 7, with a backpack giveaway, postgame fireworks, and a tribute to Coney Island judo master Rusty Kanokogi; Sunday Funday on August 8, featuring an MCU park model giveaway, a pregame on-field catch, and a salute to sandlot baseball; a blood drive and umbrella giveaway on August 18; and Bark in the Park night on August 24, when you can bring your dog to the game. If you’ve never seen the Mets’ single-A affiliate, it’s a must, even if you’re not a baseball fan.
