Spring showed its face a few days ago before the temperatures dropped again, but the season has taken hold for the next few weeks inside Macy’s, where the thirty-sixth annual flower show kicks off today. More than thirty thousands flowering trees and plants will be spread across ten garden environments, including the Jessica Simpson garden, where you can check out her new collection of clothing and accessories. Among the other displays are the Asian Garden, the Jardiniere Garden, the Woodland Garden, the Miniature Garden, the Orchid/Bromeliad Garden, the Topiary Garden, the English Cottage Garden, and the Hot Color Garden. The flower show, which is also being held in Macy’s stores in Chicago, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, and San Francisco, has a slew of special events scheduled throughout the two weeks, starting today with hippie-headband designing, Belle Fleur’s Meredith Perez and Colonial Williamsburg’s Clark Taggart giving flower-arranging demonstrations, a Pets on Parade runway show hosted by Lady Bunny, My Princess Academy etiquette tips, a Martha Stewart Bedding in Bloom Brunch, flower-decal nail accenting, a fashion show, and more. Future events include a Ritsuko Daye Deura flower-arranging workshop on March 31, a home-decorating seminar with Mar Jennings and Mr. Chow’s Philippe Chow sharing his recipes on April 2, spring shoe shopping with Vince Camuto and baking with Cupcake Café’s Anne Warren on April 3, Godiva samples on April 3 & 10, wine suggestions with master sommelier Andrea Robinson and elite designs by Marjeth Cummings on April 5, an “Art of Simplicity” demonstration with Collin Abraham on April 9, bouquets of the day by Jeff Leatham, René Hofstede, and Preston Bailey, specially designed windows, THE TUDORS’ giveaways, and daily guided tours.
