To promote its weeknight 6:30 screenings of onetime Oscar host Seth MacFarlane’s Family Guy series, WPIX is hosting an outdoor viewing of episodes from the show in Hudson River Park on June 11 at 8:30. (Doors open at 6:30.) In conjunction with the special event, the station is also sponsoring a Find Stewie scavenger hunt, where fans can search for statues of the indefatigable infant in such places as Chelsea Brewing Company, the International, Midtown Comics, Heartland Brewery, Toy Tokyo, 300 Bowling, St. Mark’s Comics, ABC Beer Company, and Forbidden Planet. The riotous program, which has made more than two hundred episodes since 1999 (including a three-year hiatus), follows the family Griffin in their hometown of Quahog, Rhode Island, as they destroy the conventions of the usual sitcom, with father Peter Griffin (voiced by MacFarlane), who regularly makes bizarre references to pop culture, politics, and history; his wife, Lois (Alex Borstein), who is an old-time Kiss fan; put-upon daughter Meg (Mila Kunis), who is not having an easy go of the teen years; older son Chris (Seth Green), who is a lovable doofus; baby son Stewie (Seth MacFarlane), a supergenius destined to rule the world; and Brian (MacFarlane), the dog who is trying to find at least some level of decency in this crazy household (and served as the inspiration for MacFarlane’s feature-film debut, Ted.) The cast is rounded out by Peter’s three best friends: sex addict Glenn Quagmire (MacFarlane), wheelchair-bound cop Joe Swanson (Patrick Warburton), and the simplistic and straightforward Cleveland Brown (Mike Henry), who eventually got his own series, for reasons unknown. Just be prepared; this night in Hudson River Park is likely to get as mad as the show itself.
