New York Classical Theatre takes RICHARD III on the run through Central Park this month (photo by Miranda Arden)

This year’s free summer theater in the city ranges from the traditional to the cutting edge, from classical Shakespeare to experimental works, staged in parks throughout the five boroughs. Sure, Al Pacino is playing Shylock in THE MERCHANT OF VENICE at the Delacorte, but there’s a whole lot else going on and very worth checking out. Keep watching this space as more free outdoor theatrical productions are announced.
